Impact of Social Media on Academic Excellence: Trainee Teachers

Abstract
Social media is integral to contemporary communication and information sharing, making it relevant for student teachers' academic and professional development. The prime aim of the study is to analyze the level of impact of social media on academic excellence of trainee teachers. The study carried out Survey Technique with convenience sampling of 78 Trainee Teachers. The Research Instrument of the study is "Social media impact on academic performance" tool of Sharma and Behl (2020) adopted for the study. The scale was segregated into four factors, namely “Accelerating Impact”, “Deteriorating Impact"," Social Media Prospects” and “Social Media Challenges”. For data analysis , Descriptive Analysis : Mean , Standard Deviation and Inferential Analysis : 't' test were employed. The study revealed that 41 percent of respondents fit in to the modest level of impact of social media on academic excellence. Female trainee teachers are prominent level of an Accelerating impact on social media on their academic excellence. Arts trainee teachers are making use of social media opportunities at enhanced level . The study suggested that the key lies in leveraging social media's benefits while mitigating its drawbacks, emphasizing digital literacy and emotional intelligence in educational policies.
