Abstract

The BRICS nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) represent a powerful coalition of emerging economies with significant influence in global governance. This research examines the role of BRICS in advancing the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Together, these nations account for nearly 40% of the global population, over 25% of the world’s GDP, and a substantial share of global resources, positioning them as critical stakeholders in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The paper explores BRICS’ collective efforts to address global challenges such as poverty alleviation, climate change, inequality, and sustainable economic growth. It highlights initiatives like the New Development Bank (NDB), which funds sustainable infrastructure and development projects, and collaborative efforts in renewable energy, food security, and technological innovation. The study also delves into the challenges faced by BRICS nations, including varying national priorities, socio-economic disparities, and geopolitical tensions, which hinder cohesive action. By analyzing policy frameworks, case studies, and multilateral initiatives, this paper identifies opportunities for BRICS to strengthen its role as a global advocate for sustainability. It concludes with recommendations for enhancing intra-BRICS cooperation and fostering partnerships with other developing nations to achieve the 2030 Agenda effectively
